I put an announcement about the convention below for you to pass along if you felt so inclined.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you so much for your time, and I hope to see you next week at the convention!

God bless,

June 7, 8 , and 9
Richmond Convention Center

Whether you're a veteran homeschooler or just beginning, the HEAV Homeschool Convention has something for you! Here are just a few of the special features the convention offers this year:

  • An exhibit hall featuring more than 150 exhibitors from all over the nation. The exhibit hall this year is the largest exhibition of homeschool material ever in Virginia!
  • A used curriculum fair that already has 45,000+ used books registered for sale. (Last year we had 33,000.)
  • Four free how-to-begin workshops on Thursday, June 7, followed by a sneak peak at the exhibit hall. This is a great opportunity for friends or relatives who are interested in homeschooling.
  • Free shopping on Saturday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • A free Virginia history CD for all conference attendees. This CD, put together by Knowledge Quest, contains a biography of Pocahontas, an MP3 about Captain John Smith by "Little Bear" Wheeler, a map of Jamestown with lesson plans, a timeline of Jamestown events, and the ebook "Globalmania: Master World Geography in Just 7 months."
  • Eight Virginia history workshops with Doug Phillips and Bill Potter covering everything from Captain John Smith and Pocahontas to the presidents and battles of Virginia. Plus Michele Zavatsky, author of the best-selling Kids Love History Series, will be talking about all the cool, little-known places to visit in Virginia.
  • A six-session creation science track with Ken Ham--one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America and the president and founder of Answers in Genesis. Ken is a native Australian and the author of numerous books on Genesis, he also hosts a daily radio program heard on more than 800 stations worldwide.
  • An entrepreneurial track (for parents AND young people) that includes everything from starting a business on eBay, to family farming, to working with your kids, to bringing dad home to work. Steve and Kerry Beck and Joel Salatin are successful entrepreneurs who will give you a vision for home business and balancing work and family. The Becks do home-business seminars, and Joel's Polyface farm has been written up in such diverse publications as the New York Times Magazine and Mother Jones.
  • A life-changing marriage workshop by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. When Dr. Eggerichs shared his Love & Respect message on Focus on the Family, more than 17,000 calls flooded the phone lines in the first 48 hours; they also had more than 50,000 hits on their website! His book, Love & Respect, has sold more than 450,000 copies and is the Family Christian Stores Book of the Year.
  • A wide range of workshops and support. The convention offers more than 120 workshops on topics such as college at home (and for less!), struggling learners, organic farming, life skills, and more! Speakers include Ken Ham, Doug Phillips, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, Mary Hood, Jessica Hulcy, Andrew Pudewa, Joel Salatin, Marilyn Rockett, Janice Campbell, Steve & Kerry Beck, Kathryn Stout, Steve Lambert, Todd Wilson, and MANY others!
