HEAV is a member-supported organization that operates from a biblical worldview. By joining HEAV, you help us continue to promote, protect, and support homeschooling throughout the state of Virginia. We couldn't do what we do without YOU!

    None of us want to lose the homeschooling freedoms we fought so hard to obtain. That's why the Home Educators Association of Virginia has worked tirelessly since 1983 to provide up-to-date information and knowledgeable representation at the General Assembly and with the Department of Education.

    • Support from families like yours has kept us going...and growing! Since1995, Virginia’s homeschool population has more than doubled. According to the Department of Education, the number of homeschooled children has gone from 10,862 to 27,316!

  • Full-time, knowledgeable office staff who are on hand five days a week to answer questions and offer encouragement and advice via phone and e-mail;
  • Curriculum counselors with many years of experience who help beginning and veteran homeschool parents wade through the myriad curricula choices to find what's best for their family;

  • In-house Homeschooling Success Seminars for beginners and veteran homeschoolers on a variety of topics;

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

As an HEAV member, you will not only help HEAV meet the ever-increasing needs of Virginia's homeschoolers, but you will also receive great member benefits, which are expanding all the time. These benefits are our way of saying "thank you" for your support. No matter which membership type you choose, you will receive:

MEMBERSHIP TYPES

There are several different membership levels from which you can choose. All member types receive the benefits outlined above, plus those listed below. Members are also automatically signed up to receive the free Virginia Home Educator magazine and the Virginia Homeschool Update. (Note: You can also sign up to receive these publications here. They are free to both members and non-members, but your membership helps make them possible.)

Basic Members ($35) Basic Membership helps us continue to support and defend homeschooling in Virginia. Basic Members receive the benefits outlined above. 

Sustaining Members ($75) A Sustaining Membership is for someone who wants to give a higher level of membership support to HEAV. Sustaining Members get the benefits of a regular membership plus our sturdy, ready-for-the-library "Education Begins At Home" tote bag as a "thank you."

Lifetime Members ($750 or more) Lifetime Membership is for those who want to offer an even higher level of support to HEAV and the work we do. Lifetime Members receive all the benefits of a regular membership AND complimentary registration for the Annual HEAV State Convention & Educational Fair for a lifetime! (This does not include the cost of the Children's Program.) They also receive our sturdy, ready-for-the-library "Education Begins At Home" tote bag. Membership can be paid in five installments instead of all at once, if preferred. Find out more information here.
