Thought
for the WeekTHOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
We've Only a Short Time
How quickly children grow! The time slips by so imperceptibly, until we're startled one day to realize our little toddler is now not so little anymore. God's given us a precious--and short--time to lay a firm foundation for our children's future. Let's be encouraged, focused, and prayerful!

A NEED AND AN OPPORTUNITY
A Note from the Convention Director

In order to provide the most solid, biblical Children's Program we could, HEAV elected to have Answers in Genesis (AiG) run the program this year. AiG has adapted their new VBS (Vacation Bible School) program to fit our convention format and provide a meaningful two days filled with biblical truth.

Children's ProgramTo make this new program a reality, HEAV took on the responsibility of supplying the program's workers. As a result, we have sent out requests for help you have not seen in previous years as we seek to find helpers who share our mission and feel called by the Lord to participate in this ministry.

We do still need adults and mature teens to help all day Friday and Saturday. One-day assistants are needed, too.

Please prayerfully consider being part of this special ministry, and please pass this request on to anyone else you know who might be interested.
We also welcome any suggestions you might have.

Volunteers will have lots of fun working with children under the direction of Buddy Davis from Answers in Genesis. They'll be allowing parents to receive the support and information they need in their homeschool journey. This is a wonderful opportunity for college students, adults and young adults interested in children's ministry, AiG supporters, grandparents, and others who want to help support home education and share God's Word with children.

Children's Program volunteers do NOT need to be registered for the convention, and reduced-rate or comped accommodations may be available for key volunteers. All volunteers will undergo a screening process.

You can view details at www.heav.org/convention/children/volunteers-needed.html.

Whether or not you feel led to volunteer, we appreciate your prayers for this year's program. We're looking forward to The Egypt File: Decoding the Mystery of Life!

Sincerely,

Florence Feldman

4) Parting Thought - Reasons for Not Worrying
"One day at a time. A burden too great
To be borne for two--can be borne for one.
Who knows what will enter tomorrow's gate?
While yet we are speaking, all may be done.

"One day at a time. But a single day,
Whatever its load, whatever its length;
And there's a bit of precious scripture to say
That according to each--shall be our strength."

- J. R. Miller, from "Reasons for Not Worrying" (1894). Read the article in which this appears here.

5) Worth Repeating
"A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins."
- Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), American Founding Father, scientist, inventor, statesman, printer, and philosopher. See a set of images on Ben at this Franklin Institute website. Dr. Franklin would approve.
