kids-in-snowThought for the Week - What's Really Important?
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get sidetracked from the truly important things in life? Days and months pass before we realize we've neglected what really mattered.

As we work with our children this week, let's not forget what's really important. How well our children do on a test or whether they enter college early is not the most important thing. What matters is eternity! We have but a short time to prepare our children for their futures--and the most important preparation is that of the heart.

4) Parting Thought - True Love
A mother was surprised one morning when her seven-year-old son brought her what had to be the worst cup of coffee she had ever had.

After heroically gulping down the last of the liquid, she saw three green plastic army men in the bottom of the cup! Naturally, she asked, "Honey, what are these doing in my coffee?"

Her son explained, "Mom, it says on TV that the best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup."

5) Worth Repeating
"Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way."
- Booker T. Washington, (1856-1915), educator, orator, and author. Born a slave in Virginia, at age 16 he walked 500 miles to attend Hampton Institute (now Hampton University). He later founded Tuskegee Institute.

Booker once said, "If no other consideration had convinced me of the value of the Christian life, the Christ-like work which the Church of all denominations in America has done during the last 35 years for the elevation of the black man would have made me a Christian."

6) Verse of the Week
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
- 1 Timothy 6:11 (KJV)
