IT'S VIRGINIA
HOME EDUCATOR WEEK!
Did you know that the last week of January is
Virginia's official "Home Education Week"? Thanks to the work of
HEAV, Governor George Allen declared the first Home Education Week in
1995.
Let Others Know About Homeschooling!
Here are some ideas on how to take
advantage of this once-a-year, extra-special opportunity to let others
know
about homeschooling!
- Teach Your Children About the History of
Homeschooling - We need to tell of
God's faithfulness to the next generation! We've updated a page with
information on the history of homeschooling in Virginia
for you to use--you'll find article reprints, a summary, a video, and
more!
- Post on Facebook, Your Blog, and Your Yahoo Groups and Forums
- Let
your online community know about Home Education Week! Post a note in
your Facebook status about Home Education Week, or mention it in a blog
post. Let people know about home education by linking to the YouTube History of Homeschooling in Virginia video from your Facebook or online
group, or embedding it directly into your blog page or website (see the
easy embedding instructions on the top right of the YouTube
page).
Order an "Education Begins at Home" License
Plate - Thanks to HEAV, Virginia has the first and only homeschool
license
plate in the nation! These plates are great ways to make a statement
about home
education year round!

4) Parting Thought - The Heavens
Declare
When asked in a letter to suggest a Bible verse or
passage of scripture that was meaningful to him, rocket scientist Werner
von
Braun wrote a profound reply, reprinted in part below.
"I submit
the following, 'Be thou exalted, O God, above the heaven; let thy glory
be
above all the earth' (Psalm 57:5).
"I feel the universal validity of God's law, on earth and other worlds,
is
expressed in this passage. Space travelers will not trespass on
forbidden
regions when they set foot on other worlds, but will be in God's realm
wherever
they go."
Seeing God holds the universe in His hands, surely we
can trust God to lead us merely from one day to the next! When we have
trouble,
let us remember to ask the Lord, like the father in the Gospel, to "help
Thou
mine unbelief" (Mark 9:24).

5)
Worth Repeating
If you have
integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity, nothing
else
matters.
- Alan Simpson (1931-present), long-time U.S. senator from Wyoming
(1979-1997).

6) Verse of the Week
I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.
