NEXT WEEK IS VIRGINIA'S HOME EDUCATION WEEK!
Special
Video on the History of Homeschooling!
Did you know that the last week of January is Virginia's
official "Home Education Week"? Thanks to the work of HEAV, Governor George
Allen declared the first Home Education Week in 1995.
In celebration of Home Education Week, we've released our History of Homeschooling in Virginia video. The video was first released back at the 2008
convention as part of HEAV's 25th anniversary celebration.
Explore the early years of homeschooling in Virginia through
engaging
interviews and images! Learn about the hardships and motivations of
parents 27 years ago, and discover the changes and dangers we face today.
We hope the video will inspire you in your own homeschooling journey! Have a blessed Home
Education Week!
(Note: When you've finished watching the video, don't
forget to share it with your family and friends! Use the "Share This Page" link to easily share it
via Facebook, e-mail, Twitter, and more.)

Theodore E. Wade, Jr. (June 28,
1936 - December 4, 2009)
Our sympathies to the family and friends of Theodore
Wade, author of The Home School
Manual and other books, who passed
away last month. I bought the volume as one of my very first purchases when we
began our learning adventures many years ago when relatively few homeschool publications
were available; it served as a great overview and introduction in a well-organized,
quick read. The book was revised and expanded by hundreds of pages over the
years and helped many more homeschoolers start their own journeys. Thank you,
Mr. Wade. - Chris (Update
Editor)
