Give a Gift - Get a Gift
Give an end-of-the-year, tax-deductible donation to HEAV for only $100
$50 or more, and get the engaging and fun Willi Gets a History Lesson (a $24 value) as a gift!
We appreciate your support!
As a long-time Williamsburg resident I took my first incredulous look at Willi
Gets a History Lesson in Virginia's Historic Triangle and thought, "Oh,
brother, how hokie, someone's dog 'photoshopped' into local historic
sites." But as I read the story about Willi's adventures in the Historic
Triangle, I began to smile, and then to laugh. Next I gave it to my 10- and
13-year-old sons to see what their reaction would be and they LOVED it--even my
husband laughed out loud. -- Anne Miller

AROUND THE WORLD
U.K.
Requires Registration and Allows Objectionable Interviews
In late November, the British
government announced they had accepted the (Graham) Badman Review of home education
and introduced the new Children, Schools
and Families Bill that requires home-educated children to be registered
with the local authorities for the first time. The bill will allow local
authorities to spot check homeschooling families and interview the children
without their parent's presence. Homeschooling parents in the U.K. are very
uneasy about these changes. Read the whole article at Life Site News.
New Hampshire - Hearing for Homeschooler Forced into Gov't System
"The New Hampshire Supreme Court
has agreed to hear the case of a 10-year-old homeschool girl who has been
ordered into a government-run school because she was too 'vigorous' in defense
of her Christian faith." Read the entire article on the Virginia Homeschool Blog.

~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ A WORTHY CAUSE -- AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE
Some
ministries work out in the limelight. Others labor faithfully year after year
behind the scenes, doing vital work. The National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI)
is one of these behind-the-scenes organizations making a BIG difference.
Founded
by a homeschool dad, Dr. Brian D. Ray, back when homeschooling was not legal
in most states, NHERI has faithfully worked to compile homeschool statistics
that have then been used in court cases and legislatures to help promote
and defend homeschooling. Every homeschool family in America is, in one way or
another, blessed by Dr. Brian Ray's labor of love. Today, NHERI helps homeschoolers in America--and around the world--by providing statistical data and research to show homeschooling works.
This Christmas season, please consider supporting the work of Dr. Brian Ray and the non-profit NHERI through a tax-deductible donation of any amount. They
particularly need about $500 to $600 for a new laser printer.
You can donate online
or by filling out this form. Donations of $20 or more can opt to receive a complimentary research report. If you donate online and would like to receive a report, take a look at the physical form and send an e-mail to mail@nheri.org specifying the report of your choice.
NHERI is a non-profit organization, and donations are tax-deductible.

Parting Thought - Before the Throne of God Above
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
- Charitie L. Bancroft, 1863. Read the rest of the
hymn on NetHymnal.
