Chris Klicka Fundraiser at Chick-fil-A Warrenton - December 7 Our thanks to Jennifer Davidson for helping put this together and letting us know about it! The
homeschool community is partnering with Chick-fil-A
Warrenton for a Klicka Spirit Day fundraiser on Monday, December 7,
2009, to raise funds for the Klicka family. The fundraiser will be held
ALL DAY at the Warrenton restaurant only. The Klicka Family will
receive 30% of
the total sales from the coupon letters turned in that day to be used
for the
children's education. So please bring in your family and friends for a
great
meal, and support the Klickas! To participate, print this coupon and turn it in when you order. Please pass this information on to your friends!
Questions should be sent to Stephanie Kennedy at chickmarketing@gmail.com or Jennifer Davidson at jenilyn10@juno.com.
P.S. Since 30% of the total purchases that day will go towards the Klickas, please consider using your

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
- HELP NEEDED!
Help Get Homeschool Resources in Your Local Library!
Does your library receive the Virginia Home Educator magazine? HEAV is offering free subscriptions! But we need your help!
Letters are being mailed to libraries next week to tell them about the free magazine, and also the availability of the Virginia Homeschool Manual. So on your next visit, ask the librarian if he or she
received our letter and let them know you would like them to acquire these resources for
your library--it's that simple!
Note: The
letters went out Monday and should arrive in all the libraries by this Friday.
~:~
~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ Help Get the Virginia Home Educator in Medical Offices!
Doctors,
dentists, orthodontists, and other medical offices often display magazines for
patients to read while waiting. Wouldn't it be wonderful if parents learned
about the benefits of home education while waiting to be seen?
At your next appointment, bring a past issue of the Virginia Home Educator with you and ask
the receptionist if the office would like to receive a complimentary
subscription. HEAV is happy to send the magazine regularly to any medical
office--just send their name and address, and a
note saying they gave you permission to subscribe them, to office@heav.org!
Thank you for letting others in your community know about home
education!

Give a Gift - Get a Gift
Make an end-of-the-year,
tax-deductible donation to HEAV for $100 or more, and as a special thank you, you'll
receive the engaging and fun Willi Gets A History Lesson (a $24 value) as a gift! Thank you for your support!
As a long-time Williamsburg resident I took my first incredulous
look at Willi Gets A History Lesson in Virginia's Historic Triangle and
thought, "Oh, brother, how hokie, someone's dog 'photoshopped'
into local historic sites." But as I read the story about Willi's
adventures in the Historic Triangle, I began to smile, and then to laugh. Next
I gave it to my 10- and 13-year-old sons to see what their reaction would be
and they LOVED it--even my husband laughed out loud. --Anne Miller

Parting Thought - Fillings
A little boy was taken to the dentist. It was
discovered he had a cavity that would have to be filled.
"Now, young man," asked the dentist, "what kind of filling would
you like for that tooth?"
"Chocolate!" replied the youngster without a moment's hesitation.
