SEPTEMBER'S TOP PICK - FREE SHIPPING - SAVE $4.50! The
Ultimate Book of Homeschooling Ideas
By Linda Dobson Reviewed by Jan Surface, a veteran homeschool mom of two graduates, who is now teaching her two primary-age children. "Are
your children excited about the start of school or are they hoping to put it
off another month? Or maybe forget about it altogether? Linda Dobson's book The
Ultimate Book of Homeschooling Ideas can
help. This book has more than 500 fun and creative learning activities that can
stand alone or be easily dovetailed into your curriculum to bring a breath of
fresh air to your homeschool...
"...With
more than 16 years of homeschooling behind me, I've done a lot, but as I read
this book, I was continually amazed as each page presented an idea or activity
that made me think, "Wow, what a fun idea" or "I need to mark this one and be
sure to incorporate it into my lesson plans" or "I'm marking this one for
family night." If you are new to homeschooling or, like me, you have been
around the block a few times, this book is a must have!"

~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ParentalRights.org Phone Call Campaign In celebration of
Constitution Week, ParentalRights.org has scheduled a major call-in
blitz to Congress. They're requesting people check to see if their
representative or senator is cosponsoring the bill, and if not, call
them this week and ask them to sign on to cosponsor H.J. Res. 42
(house) or S.J. Res. 16 (senate), the Parental Rights Amendment. You can find detailed instructions here.
For more information about the Parental Rights Amendment and the UN
Convention on the Rights of a Child, which threatens to take away
important rights from parents, visit www.parentalrights.org.

Help Wanted - Update and Web Layout Assistant HEAV is looking for an individual to assist for an average of 2 to 5 hours each week in laying out the Update
and online content. Experience with HTML and Dreamweaver or equivalent
program a plus. Applicants should have a basic sense of what looks good
graphically. Hours are flexible, but a few hours of layout work needs
to be done each weekend. Workload will vary by season, typically being
heavier leading up to the convention. Small monthly stipend. A great
opportunity for a mature teen interested in website design to get
experience and earn a little in the process. If interested, please
contact Katherine Loop at kloop@heav.org.

4) Parting Thought -
Quick Thinking
David's
wife was mad at him, because he forgot her birthday. Quick-witted, David said,
"But how do you expect me to remember your birthday when you
never look any older?"

5)
Worth Repeating
"The
religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and His
apostles, which enjoins humility, piety, and benevolence; which acknowledges in
every person a brother, or a sister, and a citizen with equal rights. This is
genuine Christianity, and to this we owe our free Constitutions of
Government."
- Noah Webster (1758-1843), American lexicographer
and textbook author. His views on the importance of Christianity can be seen
from this quote. The first lesson in his speller began with a verse of
scripture; all his texts and dictionary are full of the Word of God. See item 3.7
to celebrate Dictionary Day and learn more.

6) Verse of the Week
Remember
ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do
a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make
a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
- Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)
