2005 HEAV STATE CONVENTION & EDUCATIONAL FAIR
FEATURED SPEAKER -- DR. GARY CHAPMAN

"ENHANCING LOVE IN THE FAMILY"
You won't want to miss it! Dr. Gary Chapman has a powerful message with the ability to transform our families -- I know from personal experience how relationships can profoundly change when we effectively express love to our children and spouses in the “language” they understand. Children learn more easily--and parents are more effective--when everyone has a full “love tank.”

Dr. Gary Chapman seeks to fulfill his call to the ministry as a pastor, speaker, and author. He speaks extensively throughout the United States and internationally on marriage, family, and relationships. The government of Singapore invited him to present his marriage seminar there and the Chaplain’s Office of NATO issued a special invitation for Dr. Chapman to speak to the NATO forces in Germany. Other engagements have taken him to England, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. Sales exceeding three million copies earned him the Platinum Book Award from the Evangelical Publishers Association for The Five Love Languages, which has been translated into over 34 languages. Twelve other books and three video series are also among his publications. On the home front, Dr. Chapman is Senior Associate Pastor of Cavalry Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

1.4 Article: "A Heart That Kneels to Fear"

It was the all-too-familiar phone call I receive almost daily at work. A homeschooling mom had purchased a popular grammar program for her eight-year-old son.

It wasn't working for him; so she called me.

"My son and I have this great relationship," said Mom. "But, just yesterday he said to me, 'Mom. I hate this but I don't want to fight with you, either.'"

She continued, "So, what I've decided to do is purchase [she named a different grammar program] from you. What do you think?"

3) PARTING THOUGHT: "Grade inflation"
.... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....

A professor was giving a big test one day to his students. He handed out all of the tests and went back to his desk to wait.

Once the test was over the students all handed the tests back in. The professor noticed that one of the students had attached a $100 bill to his test with a note saying "A dollar per point."

The next class the professor handed back the tests.

This student got his test. Plus $64 change.
