During Homeschool Appreciation Day at the Virginia Air & Space Center (October 23, 2008), a special event co-sponsored by HEAV, homeschoolers participated in dozens of hands-on air-and-space exhibits. Students could pilot a space shuttle, become an air-traffic controller, fly an airplane, handle controls from dozens of historic aircraft, and climb aboard a WWII bomber--some of the bravest even maneuvered and handled the controls of a fighter jet! Exhibits included a premiere interactive aviation gallery spanning 100 years of flight, space-flight artifacts and rockets, the Apollo 12 Command Module that went to the moon, and a meteorite from Mars!
