Turning Our Hearts Toward Home ~ Florence Feldman
We work hard to be good parents and want the best for our families. But could we be missing what’s really important? We have
good intentions, but then life gets hard and we feel like giving up. Or we get caught in busyness and find ourselves running to

message from our convention director of 13 years: You will be touched, challenged, and inspired to set your heart toward
home and to focus on what really matters.
Session 1: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Identifying Blocked Learning Gates in Children of All Ages ~ Dianne Craft
This is for your “puzzling child” or teenager who “hates” school. A child may be a reluctant learner for several reasons apart from rebellion. This workshop will help you identify which of the learning gates is blocked, and, more importantly, what you can do about it at home! It doesn’t have to be so hard for your child! Download handout.

teenagers. With 11 sons and daughters now having graduated from high

What Is a Classic, Anyway? Teaching Great Books: The Why and the Wherefore
~ Adam Andrews
In an engaging presentation that is as much class discussion as lecture, Adam involves the audience in a lively debate on the definition of the classic. In the process, listeners are encouraged to consider the moral and ethical nature of reading as well as invited to suggest candidates for a “class list” of all-time great books. This presentation teaches three important tests to apply to any book in order to determine whether it is, in fact, a classic--and suggests some reasons why you should even care. So, what is a classic? No one leaves the lecture hall until the question is decided!
A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand--The Dangers of a Divided Mind

What's a Dad to Do? ~ Rick Boyer
There are plenty of misconceptions about the role of the father in a homeschooling family. Some people think that if he can’t be at home during “school time,” he can’t be involved. Others think his job is to take over some of Mom’s chores in order to free her to spend more time with the children. But scripture gives seven functions of a father in a godly home, and each of these can be applied very practically and powerfully in home education. Enjoy the wisdom and humor of this presentation as Rick answers the question of "What's a Dad to Do?" Download handout.

Session 2: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
IQ: Can It Be Changed? ~ Dianne Craft
For decades, conventional wisdom said that one’s IQ cannot be changed. Now, with the knowledge of “neuroplasticity,” it has been found that there are established ways to change an IQ. Some of those ways are music, specific movements, and “superfeeding.” There is much documentation of an increase of 15 points in a person’s IQ using these methods. This fascinating workshop shows you how to help everyone in your family feel smarter!
The Hunters and the Hunted ~ Mike Snavely
“...the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20 (KJV)
Nature tells us that there indeed was a designer, and the Bible tells us what that Creator wants us to know about Him.
In this workshop, we’ll look briefly at the concept of design versus accident, and we’ll consider the amazing truths about instinct. Furthermore, the size of each creature on earth relative to everything else speaks volumes! You will also see a world-wide “safari”--a fascinating PowerPoint program showing incredible animals from around the world and how they “hide” and deceive each other. Truly, we are without excuse if we cannot see the handiwork of God in nature!
Homeschooling--Educating for Eternity: Clarifying Your Vision and Passing It on to Your Children ~ Rick & Marilyn Boyer
We all want our children to catch the vision for God and grow up to serve Him. But how do we begin? Rick and Marilyn Boyer, home education pioneers of thirty years, believe the Bible contains the best plan for the upbringing of wise and competent children. Seeking wisdom from God's Word and applying it to their lives, they have trained their fourteen sons and daughters, some of whom are now parents and passing on the vision to their own children. Come hear Rick--with help from Marilyn and some of their six adult children--explain the scriptural method for passing on a vision of powerful Christian living from generation to generation through family discipleship. Download handout.

Does the subject of literature seem like a mystery? Are you at a loss about how to understand it yourself, much less teach it to your kids? This inspiring lecture demonstrates that everything you need to know about understanding and teaching literature is present in your second grader’s bedtime story. Adam reads a classic children’s story out loud to begin the presentation and then leads the audience into a discussion of eternal literary themes. Along the way, he shows how you can do the same at home by following five simple steps. Your literature curriculum--to say nothing of family story time--will come alive automatically. You’ll never put the kids to bed the same way again!

Join Kerin as she shares how God has used each child's uniqueness to grow her faith and help her embrace these challenges as blessings.
Why and How You Should Teach Your Children Etiquette ~ Inge Cannon
When you think of “etiquette,” do your thoughts focus on privilege or panic? Nothing in life can create privilege and eliminate panic more quickly than the comfortable practice of basic etiquette. Learning the proprieties of life that can bring “a man before kings” is a vital part of character training for every adult and child. (See Proverbs 22:29 and Daniel 1:4.) This workshop offers parents several suggestions for accomplishing that goal.

He seems to be challenging everything. No, you are not the only mom sitting bewildered and wondering where your sweet little boy or girl went. Your child has just entered the Logic Stage of his educational process. Your child needs to be taught how to make an appeal and how to reason. He needs a class on “logic.”

Aunt Lucy? ~ Mike Snavely
There are no scientific laboratory models that indicate Darwinian evolution has ever occurred, or that it is even possible. Therefore, the only other source that could possibly verify the theory would be the fossil record--literally, solid evidence! For the fossil record to validate Darwinian evolution, we would have to find fossils of transitional forms; that is, fossils indicating a creature that is perhaps half-evolved from one kind into another kind. And there should be countless examples of them if this process has been going on for billions of years! After all the dust settles, there are only a handful that can even be considered as “candidates.” In this session, we’ll consider (with a degree of humor) some of the “evidence” methods and the bias that produces the fables of hominids and pre-human cavemen.
Rekindling the Fire of the Founders ~ Marilyn Boyer
Their lives, their fortunes, their sacred honor! America's Founding
Fathers were willing to sacrifice everything in order to give to their
posterity "one nation under God." Two centuries later, America and her

which our nation was founded. Come listen as historical writer Marilyn
Boyer, author of For You They Signed, points the way back to

first in their lives and reclaim our country's future by embracing the

This workshop emphasizes a broad biblical principle of the parent-child relationship rather than giving a rigid courtship model. Download handout.
If I'm Diapering a Watermelon, Then Where'd I Leave the Baby? ~ Carol Barnier
Why do we start for the kitchen to get a drink for a child, get sidetracked by a paperclip on the floor, and end up weeding in the garden with no idea why our child is still thirsty? Why do library books constantly disappear into black holes in our homes, never to be seen again...at least not before the fines add up? Why do we have 25 projects started in our day with only two or three ever being finished? As a self-proclaimed "Gloriously Unregimented Mom," Carol shares stories and strategies from the heart (and from the trenches!) about a home run by a highly distractible mom. She brings to light the many "truths" distractible moms must own if ever they are to develop strategies that work. Best of all, Carol shares her firm conviction that the highly distractible mom has a real and God-given edge over the naturally organized mom. Come and learn and laugh as you find REAL help for the highly distractible mom. Download handout.

Parents have said that this can be “life changing.” Download handout.

How, indeed! The formation of the canyon has puzzled mankind for years. But, thanks to the research of Dr. Walter Brown, logical pieces to the puzzle have been discovered in the general area and right at the canyon itself. The formation of the Grand Canyon was one of many post-flood incidents that have reshaped the earth since the end of the great deluge as the earth groaned and shuddered under the weight of judgment from Almighty God!
