Each year, the Children’s Program provides lots of fun—and learning—for children whose parents are attending the convention. The program runs concurrently with convention workshops, and children eat lunch with their parents.

Many volunteers, adults and teens aged 13 and older, are necessary to care for the children participating in the program each year. More information about how you can help will be posted in 2012. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact childrensprogram@heav.org.

Q: What do I do with my children
during convention?
A: The answer depends on the age(s) of your child(ren). Children 10-12 years of age may attend workshops, if
accompanied by an adult, or they may attend the Children’s Program. All
children, regardless of age, are welcome in the Exhibit Hall and UCS, provided
they are with an adult.
Infants
Nursing infants are welcome in
workshops. In consideration of others—and so as not to render the recording of
the session unusable—please sit near an exit so that you can slip out quietly if
your baby becomes noisy. (This includes happy sounds as well as those of
distress.)
Toddlers (through age 4)
We LOVE children, but only nursing babies and children 10 and over may attend workshops;
you will need to make other arrangements for your toddlers and preschoolers.
Children of all ages are welcome in the Exhibit Hall and UCS.
Note: Our children’s program and its activities are created to be appropriate for children ages 5-12.
Children
(ages 5-12)
The goal of our children’s
program is to provide a safe, fun place for children of families who may not
have other options for childcare during the convention. Children under 10, with
the exception of nursing infants, are not allowed in
the workshops. Please plan accordingly. Children of all ages are welcome in the Exhibit Hall and UCS with their
parents.
Youth (ages 10 and up) and Young Adults (single,
adult dependents living at home)
Youth and young adults are invited to attend the convention workshops and
Exhibit Hall.
Q: What are the hours of the Children's Program?
A: The Children's Program is coordinated with the
convention to allow parents time to drop off and pick up their children and
still attend most of the workshops of their
choice. Only the parent who dropped off the child—or a person that parent
specifically authorized when dropping off the child—may remove a child from the
care of the Children's Program staff. Parents must pick up their children
during the lunch break and when the Children's Program closes; parents may also
pick up or drop off their own children anytime the program is open, if
necessary.
