Each year, the Children’s Program provides lots of fun—and learning—for children whose parents are attending the convention. The program runs concurrently with convention workshops, and children eat lunch with their parents.
Note: The Children's Program is full on Friday. Limited space MAY be available for Saturday; please inquire in the registration area at the convention.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Children's Program! We were both amazed by and grateful for the number of volunteers who stepped in to meet this need and are happy to report that all our slots have been filled. Q: What do I do with my children
during convention?
A: The answer depends on the age(s) of your child(ren). Children 10 through 12 years of age may be registered as "tweens" and attend workshops as long as they are accompanied by an adult. All children, regardless of age, are welcome in the Exhibit Hall and UCS, provided they are accompanied by an adult.
Infants
Nursing infants are welcome in workshops. In consideration of others, and so as
not to render the recording of the session unusable, please sit near an exit so
you may slip out quietly if your baby becomes noisy. (This includes happy
sounds as well as those of distress.)
Toddlers (through age 3)
We LOVE children, but only nursing babies and children (10+) who are paid
registrants for the convention may attend workshops; please make other
arrangements for toddlers and preschoolers. Children of all ages are welcome in
the Exhibit Hall and UCS.
Children (ages 4-12)
Although our Children’s Program is full, children of all ages are welcome in the Exhibit Hall and UCS with their parents. Children under 10, with the exception of infants, are not allowed in the workshops. Please plan accordingly.
"Tweens" (ages 10-12)
"Tweens" are invited to attend the convention workshops and Exhibit Hall. Registration is $20 (a maximum fee of $40 for all "tweens" within a family).
Teens (13-19) & Young Adults
(single, adult dependants living at home)
Young adults and teens are invited to attend the convention workshops and
Exhibit Hall. Registration is $20 (a maximum fee of $40 for all young adults
and teens within a family).
Q: What are the hours of the Children's Program?
Note: The Children's Program is full.
A: The Children's Program is coordinated with the convention workshops to allow parents time to drop off and pick up their children and still attend the workshops of their choice. Only the parent who dropped off the child or a person that parent specifically authorized when dropping off the child off may remove a child from the care of the Children's Program staff. Parents must pick up their children during the lunch break and when the Children's Program closes; parents may also pick up or drop off their own children anytime the program is open, if necessary.
